School Curriculum

Our Curriculum and Planning Approach

At Errington Special Education Centre, all staff collaborate within structured sub-school teams to develop seamless curriculum plans, guided by the Australian Curriculum. Through in-depth discussions, our teams adapt curriculum delivery to meet the unique needs of students with significant and complex disabilities, ensuring relevance and meaning within our special school context.

Each sub-school—Junior Primary, Primary, Middle School, and Senior School—has developed a comprehensive context statement, with individual classroom context statements supporting curriculum planning at the class level.

In our Senior School, these context statements provide the foundation for developing individual One Plans within a modified SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education) structure. Each One Plan is tailored in collaboration with students and their families at the beginning of the year, ensuring a truly personalised educational pathway that is formally agreed upon before implementation.

A comprehensive document outlining these curriculum plans is shared internally, while streamlined summaries are provided to parents and families to keep them informed and engaged.

To continually refine our processes, staff dedicate time on student-free days throughout the year to improve assessment and reporting. This ongoing work ensures that each student’s progress is clearly documented, including their nominated level of achievement and their attainment of individual subject goals as established during One Plan meetings with parents and families.
