Positive Behaviour for Learning
Our school expectations
We teach, model and reinforce positive behaviours that reflect our school values of Relationships, Opportunity, Achievement and Regulation. Staff explicitly teach what these expectations look like in different settings. This creates consistency and helps students feel secure.
Routines and predictability
Clear routines are an important part of our PBL approach. Students are supported with:
- consistent classroom expectations
- clear yard supervision and play rules
- structured transitions
- clear start and end of day procedures
- reminders and visual prompts across the school.
Predictability helps students feel safe and ready to learn.
Encouraging positive behaviour
We believe positive behaviour grows when it is noticed. Our Whole School Encouragement System support our PBL approach by:
- verbal praise
- positive recognition
- whole-school acknowledgement
- celebrations of positive effort and behaviour
This helps students understand that their choices matter and builds confidence.
Family partnerships
Families play an important role in supporting positive behaviour.
You can help by:
- talking about school expectations
- reinforcing respectful behaviour at home
- encouraging routines (sleep, organisation, attendance)
- communicating with the school if concerns arise
When school and home work together, children feel more confident and supported.
Our goal
Through PBL, we aim to build a school where students:
- feel safe
- feel respected
- feel a sense of belonging
- are ready to learn
Together, we create a positive school community where every child can thrive.
We treat behaviour as something students learn, just like literacy and maths.
