Governing Council
The Governing Council is a vital decision-making body at Errington Special Education Centre, guiding the direction and priorities of our school in partnership with the Principal. The council is comprised of parents, staff, and community members, all working together to support the school’s ongoing development.
Our Annual General Meeting is held early in Term 1, where parents are warmly invited to join the Governing Council. The commitment is minimal, with most responsibilities centred around attending meetings. Some parents also choose to become involved in school activities, such as fundraisers, depending on their interests and availability.
Meetings occur twice per term—typically on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm to 8:00pm during Weeks 4 and 8 of each term.
The Governing Council generally consists of around nine members, including approximately six parents, up to two staff representatives, the Principal, Deputy Principal, and Business Manager. Meetings provide updates on school initiatives and offer valuable opportunities for parents to contribute their perspectives on current activities and future directions. It is also a great way to learn more about potential opportunities and services available to our students, including information about external organisations such as government departments and NDIS.
Governing Council members are required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and complete the Responding to Abuse & Neglect (RRHAN) training. The school covers any associated costs.
