Dear families/ caregivers,
RE: COVID update
This feels like a very surreal time. We are in a health epidemic and the regulations and advice change rapidly nationally and locally.
We all understand that hygiene, social distancing and personal care can mitigate the risk of contracting COVID-19, which we understand is the reason for parents choosing to keep children away from school. Staff and student wellbeing is at the forefront of all that we do. Due to our students abilities, and especially the personal care requirements, staff have been unable to adhere to SA Health advice / regulations.
I would like to thank the staff for their professionalism during this health pandemic and understand the enormous stress and pressure they are feeling. It is a complex and sensitive time.
At Errington: we have approx. 70% families choosing to keep their children at home hygiene practices as recommended by SA Health are implemented where possible and encouraged our cleaning contract has doubled in hours, to include the playground, IT, all surfaces and furniture being cleaned daily all face to face meetings, assemblies, school council meeting have now been cancelled No therapist, visitors and parents to enter the school.
A school wide Errington News seesaw has been sent out to all families and staff, please connect via the QR code your child's teacher sent out earlier this week. This will provide timely updates.
Flexible work options for staff to support social distancing and staff wellbeing
Our website has been uploaded with many resources in preparation for remote learning. Go to https://www.erringtonsec.sa.edu.au/
The Minister of Education announced 4 pupil free days from the 6th - 9th April, these will be used for staff to transition to the flexible learning we can provide in Term 2, including the making and delivery of learning packs. During these days you may like to take the opportunity to familiarise yourselves with the DfE website Our Learning, many of the early years and R- 2 resources are suitable for our students.
Our Learning SA | Department for Education
Learning from home Our Learning SA supports students, families and teachers for continued learning between school and home.Aligned to the Early Years Framework and the Australian Curriculum, these resources support learning in the classroom and beyond.
Families who have chosen to self isolate, you are now able to request through seesaw the delivery of home learning packs and these will be delivered to you as soon as they are completed.
We understand everyone reacts differently in a time of crisis, our thoughts are with our families who may have been made redundant and to those working in the essential services. I recently spoke to a parent who is a doctor at the RAH, who was thoroughly exhausted with the increased 13 hour day shifts he is required to do.
I thankyou for your understanding and cooperation.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us, we are here for anyone in need.
Keep safe, well and keep supporting each other.
