Library

The resource centre / library is well equipped to cater for all learners and operates a visual referencing system enabling students access to resources independently.

The importance of literacy is evident by our well-stocked and up to date library which is open to all students and classes throughout the week. Some students come individually to this space, whilst others visit the library as a class for sessions, delivered by our school librarian.

Students participate throughout the year in the Premiers Reading Challenge. Plus Book Week is an annual event celebrated by all students and staff.

Errington Special Education Centre is at the forefront of new initiatives in literacy, including Proloquo2go and Jolly Phonics. Both of these packages enable students to use specially designed software (eg on iPads) to open them up to a learning environment that enables them to participate. This is particularly important for some of our non-verbal students.

The resource committee, which supports the library, is constantly ensuring that the space fits the needs of 21 century learners.
